Budapest Free Walking Tour

Free General Budapest Walking Tour will introduce you to this extraordinary city in a heartbeat. You will learn how Budapest, through centuries of turmoil and suffering, became one of the most beautiful cities in Europe: “Paris of the East”, “Pearl of the Danube”, “City of Spas” …  You’ll experience grand squares and boulevards of Pest and stunning views from the Buda Castle; you will hear local legends, learn about Hungarian food and drinks, and what makes locals tick. We’ll see Andrassy Avenue, St. Stephen Basilica, Liberty Square, Parliament,  Danube Bend, Buda Castle, Royal Palace, Mathias Church, Fisherman Bastion, etc. You’ll get recommendations what else to check out, where to eat, where to go out, what to avoid.

Due to reconstruction of the Chain Bridge, we might only stay on the Pest side. If you would like to include Buda Castle, at the moment we have to take metro to cross the river. This will affect how long the tour will be.

Meeting point:  Sisi statue at Madach Sq. ( next to Deak Feerenc Sq, where 3 metro lines meet )

Start: 10:00am ( flexible).

Duration: 2.5 – 3.5 hours

Language: English

Free tour concept
Free tours as a concept are getting more and more popular every day. The idea is simple: don’t charge people fix amount of money upfront, but let them tip, at the end of the tour,  depending on their budget and, most importantly, how much they enjoyed the tour. That way, everybody can join and guides are eager to do the best job they can. So, everybody wins!

I have been doing walking tours in Budapest for more than 5 years. I love history, architecture, art, good food and wine. I love meeting people from different countries and backgrounds. I adore this city and if you join one of my tours, you'll find out why.
