Located in the south of Spain near the land’s encircling Mediterranean Sea is probably one of the most vibrant cities in the country, Barcelona. But if you have plenty of time to spend and you wish to indulge in the picturesque offerings around you, there are plenty of perfect day trips to explore. Visit charming coastal towns, picturesque mountain landscapes, a myriad of museums, and and other places that would incapacitate most with that one glance. From these here are some great day trips from Barcelona:

1. Montserrat

Situated approximately an hour away from Barcelona, Montserrat is a beautiful mountain range that features an amazing spiritual destination. Stop and explore the Benedictine monastery that houses the famous Black Madonna statue or hike in the miles of hiking trails that traverse the impressive rock formations. For those who love music, it is a must that they attend that of the Montserrat Boys’ Choir.

2. Sitges

If you are trying to find a day with the sea, go to Sitges, charming coastal town, famous for its beautiful beaches and appealing atmosphere. Visit the impressive 17th century Church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, visit the narrow streets of the old town, enjoy the busy beach promenade lined with restaurants and cafes. Sitges also has an annual Carnival and many art galleries.

3. Girona

Time travel in a visit to Girona, a medieval city that does boozy charm and history. Explore the well preserved Jewish Quarter and the Gothic Cathedral then walk along the ancient city walls. 4. Tarragona

5. Costa Brava

The Costa Brava provides the perfect day trip from Barcelona if you’re in search of natural beauty. These hidden coves, crystal clear waters and pretty fishing villages are scattered across this rugged coastline. Stay in one of the charming town of Cadaqués, home to Salvador Dalí, or lie on the sandy beaches of Tossa de Mar. The Coastal Path is a great place to go hiking as it provides stunning views of the azure Mediterranean Sea.

6. Figueres

Salvador Dalí is a name art enthusiasts should not miss visiting, the birthplace of Salvador Dalí is Figueres and the centre for Dalí’s work is the Dalí Theatre-Museum. Take yourself into the bizarre interior world of the wonderful artist, as you advance through the museum’s particular assortment. Ready yourself for the amusement and stimulation of Dalí’s captivating paintings, sculptures and installations.
