Embark on a remarkable 4-day Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari in Northern Tanzania. Explore the iconic Serengeti National Park and the stunning Ngorongoro Crater. Witness the breathtaking great wildebeest migration and encounter Africa’s “big five” – lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and rhinos. This thoughtfully planned itinerary offers exclusive wildlife experiences in just 4 days, ensuring an unforgettable adventure.
Day 1: Arrive in Kilimanjaro/Arusha Airport to Tarangire
We will pick you up from Kilimanjaro/Arusha Airport and transfer you to Tarangire National Park for excellent game viewing. Tarangire, though small, offers exceptional sights. Typically, during the dry seasons, Tarangire comes alive as wildlife and birdlife gather around the Tarangire River, a permanent water source. You will spend the night in the beautifully lodge situated close to the park, providing stunning views and a unique atmosphere.
Day 2: Serengeti National Park
After having breakfast in the early morning and packing our lunch boxes, we make our way towards Serengeti National Park through Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoying game drives along the way, there is a chance to visit Olduvai Gorge, where the Leakey’s made groundbreaking archaeological discoveries in the 1950s. Pre-booking is necessary for this visit. After lunch, we continue on into the vast plains of the Serengeti, occasionally stopping to observe acacia trees and kopjes scattered throughout the landscape. December, January, and February are prime months to witness the migration of large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. And of course, resident animals like giraffes, buffaloes, and elephants can be seen year-round, along with formidable predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, enjoy a full day of game drives in this magnificent park. Start your day early to maximize your time. Your driver-guide will select the best spotting locations according to the season. The game drives will take you from the wide-open plains to the kopjes—volcanic rocky outcrops that offer protection and shelter for a variety of animals. From the tops of these kopjes, you can gaze across the vast Serengeti grasslands. This diverse and captivating landscape promises exceptional game viewing opportunities, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, lions, and, if you’re fortunate, the elusive leopard and cheetah. You’ll also encounter a wide array of fascinating birdlife, from elegant secretary birds to the flightless ostrich. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Ngorongoro for dinner and an overnight stay at Baghayo Sweet Garden Lodge on a full board basis.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Ngorongoro Crater with picnic lunch boxes and descend into the crater, known as one of the world’s most densely populated game areas, with nearly 40,000 animals. Here, we have a good chance of spotting the Big Five: lions, leopards, the rare Black Rhino, buffaloes, and elephants. Alongside these iconic creatures, we’ll also observe herds of wildebeest, zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles during five hours of game drives. Afterward, we’ll return to Arusha town, where our driver-guide will drop you off in Arusha or your preferred destination.
