Shakhrisabz is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. The great Amir Timur, known as Tamerlane, was born here. You will explore the ruins of his summer palace Ak Saray, visit the tomb of his eldest son Jahongir and descend into the crypt intended for himself. What to expect:
– Valley of Demons. There are huge boulders there, strange stones are scattered throughout the valley, they have fantastic shapes, reminiscent of either the faces of demons, or the features of pagan deities, or the figures of wild animals.
– “Heart-stone” – with a through hole in the shape of a heart, created by nature with the help of the wind of the currents of many years, located 30 km south of Samarkand, on the road to Amankutana. – Ak-shed. Aksaray was built by order of Amir Temur after his campaign against Khorezm. The estimated start of construction of the monument is 1379, and at the moment only two separate entrance portals, whose height is more than 40 meters, have been preserved.
–Darus Saodat Complex. This complex arose after the death of Amir Temur’s eldest son Jahangir. Now the ensemble consists of several buildings – a mosque, a mausoleum, a room for pilgrims, three gates and tombs.
– Kuk Gumbaz Mosque. In 1435, the largest mosque in Shakhrisabz was opened. This mosque was built on the foundation of a pre-Mongol mosque and presents a striking example of the Persian style.
