The enchanting tiny sandy island, is located approximately 1 kilometer from the Stone Town City and accessible by boat in just 30 minutes. Surrounded by the amazing sea, in the most beautiful shades of blue and green water, guests can enjoy spectacular sea views in every direction. This amazing full day excursion includes something for everyone!

Prison Island

The day starts by visiting the historic Prison Island. The prison once used as a seclusion, gives a unique opportunity to support the Aldabra Tortoise; Presently this species is considered vulnerable and has been placed on The International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. It is a perfect picture moment as well.

We’ll hop on board and set sail for about 20 minutes until we reach Changuu Island, also known as Prison Island, as it was once used as a prison for slaves and a quarantine centre for people with yellow fever.

Nakupenda beach

After the prison visit we shall take sail to the sandbank of Pange. There you will spend the best part of the day soaking in the sun or taking a cool plunge in the turquoise waters that surround you. You can simply relax or take a swim and snorkel. The under- water world is truly amazing. The tropical fish that swim amongst the beautiful, live coral reef around the sandbank is a marvelous sight. After you have worked up an appetite, you will sit down and relax while enjoying chilled drinks and can take part in preparation of your lunch seafood BBQ.

Sail back to Stone town.

At the end of the tour we’ll make our way back to Stone Town and drop you off at your hotels at around 15:30 or 16:00hrs

Airport transfers are not included in the price of this tour, however you can book for an arrival transfer in advance. In this case our representative will be at the airport to greet you. To arrange this please contact our customer service team once you have a confirmed booking.

Our Advice:

You are welcome to bring your swimsuit under easy-wear clothes – shorts, summer tops, sunhat and sun-glasses
It is a full day activity and although it ends at around 3:30 to 4 pm, we don’t suggest combining it with other activities
Bring Water resistant bag for cameras and other valuables
Vegetarian lunch option available on request
