What to See in Ireland in 3 Days

Considering you are interested in planning a trip to the Emerald Isle? Ireland is a fantastic country with a very rich history, beautiful landscapes and brilliant Cities. Of course we can not make it in 3 days, but we can make the best of it and make unforgettable memories. In this blog post, we show you an itinerary for visiting Ireland while having a short time (or longer) in the country.

Day 1: Dublin, the Capital City

The adventure starts in Dublin, Ireland’s heart and soul. Let’s start by describing some of this top attractions:

1. Explore Dublin City Center

Walk around the city center in the morning. A pleasant way would be to stroll leisurely along Grafton Street, a pedestrianized street full of shops, cafés and street performers. Do visit St. Stephen’s Green, a small park that is a sanctuary of calm after the bustle of the city.

2. Go to Trinity College and see the Book of Kells

Trinity College: A visit would not be complete if you were in Dublin. The stunning architecture, beautiful Library and don’t miss out on the ancient Book of Kells, a beautifully illuminated medieval manuscript, are all worth marveling at.

3. Tour Guinness Storehouse

Visit Guinness Storehouse to see the history of Ireland’s most famous beer. Brewing process, enjoy panorama views of Dublin from the Gravity Bar, and a complimentary pint of Guinness.

Day 2: The Ring of Kerry and Killarney

Day 2 involves venturing into County Kerry’s picturesque landscapes. Scenic drive of mountains, lakes, coastal cliffs, Ring of Kerry.

1. Drive the Ring of Kerry

Drive the Ring of Kerry starting from Killarney. If you love to be awed by landscapes, be awed by the Killarney National Park, stop at Ladies View to take wonderful pictures and pass through charming villages like Sneem and Cahersiveen.

2. Visit the Skellig Islands

To get to the Skellig Islands, take a boat tour if the weather permits. It has an ancient monastic settlement and wildlife. This is a experience on its own that should not be missed.

Day 3: Galway and the Cliffs of Moher

Your final day lets you explore Ireland’s west coast that is renowned for its rugged landscapes and equally lively culture.

1. Experience the Charm of Galway

Have a wonderful morning of exploring the colourful streets of Galway. Take a walk around Galway Cathedral, the lively Latin Quarter and have a browse of the local shops for some unique souvenirs.

2. Marvel at the Cliffs of Moher

Go to the Cliffs of Moher, a beautiful natural wonder of Ireland. If you are lucky you’ll be able to stand at the edge of towering cliffs and feel the Atlantic breeze on your face and see the coastline.

Final Thoughts

While 3 days may seem short, this itinerary will allow you to make the most of Ireland in the given 3 days. Also, keep in mind to enjoy the Irish hospitality, to taste traditional dishes like Irish stew and soda bread, to experience the culture and history of this wonderful country. Sláinte!
