Dubrovnik City Break: Things to Do

Having limited time in Dubrovnik whether it is for a day, a weekend or a week does not hinder one from having quality time in the region. 1. Walk the City Walls

Unquestionably, strolling along the city walls is one of the major attractions of the walking tour in Dubrovnik. If encircling the old town, the walls give a splendid view of the sea and the roofs with red terracotta tiles. Take couple hours in order to stroll around the walls and enjoy the atmosphere of this World Heritage list place.

2. Discover the Old Town

Take a walk in the Old Town of Dubrovnik and this will definitely take you through that period in history. See the rich examples of the Gothic-Renaissance architecture at the Rector’s Palace of 16 th century, and the main promenade of the city – Stradun. Do not omit the number one symbol of the city – the Franciscan Monastery that contains one of the oldest pharmacies in the world.

3. Visit Fort Lovrijenac

To have a bird’s eye view of Dubrovnik and its vicinity go to Fort Lovrijenac. Located on the rocky cliff on the outskirts of the city, this old knight’s castle will give you a feel of the historical past of Dubrovnik. It is recommended that the visitors should take time to enjoy the breathtaking view of the battlefield and amuse himself or herself with the energy actually felt in this strategic place.

4. Take a Cable Car Ride

As for seeing the overall picture of Dubrovnik, this can be easily achieved by going up Mount Srd on a cable car. Even the journey is an enjoyable process, but when you get to the top you are going to be rewarded with the magnificent view of the city and the sea. It is important not to leave behind a camera when going out for a stroll.

5. Swim in the Adriatic Sea

It has really marvelous sea and perfect places for sea bathing and for fans of wonderful shingles of the sea coast. 7. Explore Lokrum Island

Over in Lokrum Island, a boat cruise from Old Port of Dubrovnik, it is a reserve which is home to beautiful peacocks. One can go through the lush green gardens, the historical 19th-century fort, and bathe in the island’s natural salt water lake, Dead Sea. Thus, Lokrum Island can be defined as the place that is appropriate for relaxing after the noisy city life.

8. Engage in Water Sports

The following are some of the water sports activities one can engage in should you be an adventure freak in Dubrovnik. There is no escape as you can rent a kayak to travel around the city walls or engage in water scooter riding in the Adriatic Sea. There is also an opportunity to engage in snorkeling or scuba diving to introduce the assorted seascape bottom creatures.
