How to Get from Madrid Airport to City Centre

1. Metro

The Madrid Metro is a budget and quick way to reach the city core from the Airport. Line 8 (the pink line) connects all terminals of Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez Airport to Nuevos Ministerios, from where there are easy connections to other lines.

Take the signs for the metro after collecting your luggage and getting past customs. Buy one ticket or a transport Multi-card that can be reloaded at the ticket machine or ticket booth, and head towards the Line 8. Actually, the metro trains come by about every 5-7 minutes so it doesn’t take long to wait.

Please note that the metro runs between 6:00 am and 1:30 am, if your flight arrival or departure falls outside of these timings then you might need to take other means of transportation.

2. Airport Express Bus

If carrying large luggage or prefer more comfortable and convenient ride, the Airport Express Bus is a good choice. It operates around the clock and 365 days a year. You can locate the stops at each terminals and it is very obvious with the characteristic yellow color.

The bus service will call by key points in the city centre, Atocha intercity and Cibeles C sights among them. Depending on your destination, view the bus routes and schedules so as to select the most convenient stop.
