How to Spend 4 Days in Paris
The city of love and romance — Paris — is a place most travellers dream of visiting. Depending on what sounds like it fits your better, the French capital has a lot to offer with its beautiful architecture, remarkable museums, cool neighborhoods, and mouth watering cuisine. This is an itinerary that will enable you to make the most of four days in Paris should you have it planned and travelling.
Day 1: Exploring the Historical Heart of Paris
Begin the first day that you spend in Paris by absorbing some of its history, while taking in some of the grandest landmarks.
Morning: Notre-Dame Cathedral and Île de la Cité
Visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, a beautiful masterpiece of the Gothic architecture, in the early hours of the day. Stunning stained glass windows, climb top to see the panoramic view of the city, crypt. Finally, spend a relaxing walk on Île de la Cité, the historical heart of Paris, and find cosy cafes as well as cool shops.
Afternoon: Louvre Museum
The museum at the Louvre in Paris has to be on your ‘must see list’ when you visit this amazing and beautiful place. Thousands of works of art, that is and, of course, the famous Mona Lisa, mean that the Louvre will take your breath away. While it takes a while to walk through the various wings of the museum, it is important to also go through other masterpieces instead as well: Venus de Milo and Winged Victory of Samothrace.
Evening: Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur Basilica
Adventure to the bohemian part of town Montmartre in the evening. Walk through its narrow streets, view some wonderful art galleries and live up the lively atmosphere. Don’t leave without taking a nice view of Paris at sunset climbing up to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica.
Day 2: Cultural Immersion in Paris
On day two, soak up the culture and be taken through the Parisian way of life.
Morning: Musée d’Orsay
Wake up early for the Musée d’Orsay, a former railway station that is now an art museum. View the world’s biggest collection of Impressionist and Post Impressionist masterpieces featuring works by Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and Degas.
Afternoon: Le Marais
Leaving the museum, travel to chic Le Marais. Le Marais is known for its cute streets, historical edifices, and fashionable boutiques allowing you a chance to grab some food and have your way shopping. One of the oldest squares in Paris, don’t forget to go to Place des Vosges.
Evening: Seine River Cruise
Enjoy a Seine River cruise as the sun sets on a romantic romantic voyage. Lighting up the landmarks of this city include the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre Museum, you had to admire the city’s splendour at night. This is the perfect way to close your second day in Paris.
Day 3: Charming Neighborhoods and a Touch of Art
By the third day, use the opportunity to venture through some of Paris’s most beautiful neighborhoods.
Morning: Saint-Germain-des-Prés
Begin your day in the historic neighborhood of Saint Germain des Prés. Its many cafes provide a leisurely breakfast, independent bookstores sell their wares, and its intellectual atmosphere has inspired countless writers and artists.
Afternoon: Musée de l’Orangerie and Tuileries Garden
After Strolling through Saint-Germain des Prés head to the Musée de l’Orangerie in the picturesque Tuileries Garden. Very famous are the Water Lilies series, which play tribute to Monet in this museum, as well as other works—Impressionist and Post-Impressionist—showcased here. Then go over to view the fountains of the beautiful Tuileries Garden and strolled around.
Evening: Latin Quarter
Turn to the lively Latin Quarter in the evening. This neighborhood is known for its buzzy atmosphere and student life, and there are lots of dining options in a fuss budget as well as in a fine dining one. Relax and soak up the energy of this bustling area while enjoying a tasty French meal.
Day 4: Exploring Versailles
Your last day in Paris should be spent on a day trip to the nearby Palace of Versailles.
Morning: Visiting the Palace of Versailles
Carry on early, and get to Palace of Versailles, a royal residence just outside Paris, which is a beautiful place to visit. Visit the opulent rooms, go through spectacular gardens, and explore the French monarchy history. Don’t forget to see the gorgeous and famous room: Hall of Mirrors.
Afternoon: Trianon Estate and Marie-Antoinette’s Hamlet
First stop after the main palace is the Trianon Estate, the extra palace on the Versailles grounds. Take a peek at the smaller palace of the Grand Trianon, built for Louis XIV, and visit Marie-Antoinette’s Hamlet, a village that was she did her own thing: see the hermits gone wild, eavesdrop on the conversation at the post office and discover secret tunnels.
Evening: Return to Paris
Return to Paris in the evening and spend your last night in Paris’s buzzing nightlife. The city allows you to finish a late dinner in a bustling bistro or watch a play at one of the many theaters.
