Overview

Trujillo is located in the province of Caceres in the Spanish geographical area of Extremadura. It is constructed on a hill with a Moorish castle on top. It was founded to protect Trujillo against the Spaniards during the Reconquest, but it fell and became part of Christian Spain in 1232.

Trujillo is the most wonderful city in Extramadura, one of its highlights is the main square at night. It is lit up with the most beautiful lights making it one of the most captivating city squares in Spain. It has medieval structures, but its architectural style of the 15th and 16th centuries is especially spectacular.

Many Conquistadors constructed magnificent villas and royal residences in Trujillo during that time and those artifices have been preserved to this day. Most of these were impacted by their owners’ trips to the Americas.
