The most popular breathtaking structure in this magnificent city Vejer de la Frontera is the Arab-Andalusian structure. In the year 1976, the structure was declared a Historic-artistic site and won the first national Embellishment awards two years later.

This hill city is a few kilometers away from the coast, giving it a sweet chill weather and an awe-inspiring view. The whitewashed houses and walled enclosure will have you thinking you’re in Santorini Greece and the iconic quarters with narrowing winding streets will take the words right out of your mouth.

The highlights of this tour are the jewish quarters, the ancient castle from 11th century and the old stone arch. These magnificent locations and more like the church of Divino Salvador and the sanctuary of Nuestra Seora de la Oliva, where they worship a 16th-century image, are all highly noteworthy.

Take a break from the bustle and experience the local atmosphere like you never have before. Veer of the popular streets into the beaten-path tour to see the serene old town streets of Vejer de la Frontera.

What To Expect

Vejer has accumulated hundreds of years of history since the Phoenicians managed to pass through Cádiz. Presently, we can see Roman Access Walls and Doors to the Historic Center, as well as aspects of the Aljama Mosque on the original temple with its Sahan (patio), which has been incorporated into the existing Church of El Salvador. The footprint of the Umayyads in the Castle, such as Abderramán II, or the Alfices (arches) of the Almohads. The presence of Islam, which has been present for nearly 5 centuries, and its peaceful coexistence with the Jews are distinctive to Vejer.

We’ll visit the Walled Enclosure, passing through the Puerta de la Segur and make our way to the Main Church and the Castle. Then we’ll walk down through the Jewish quarter to the Mirador de las Cobijadas, where we’ll gaze out over the Atlantic Ocean and Africa. Then it’s on to the Arab Quarter’s winding streets. Its heroines, including Layla Al-Zhura, founder of Chef-Chaouen and wife of the last Mr. Sidi Ali Ben Al-Rashi, and Juan Relinque, antagonizer of Hazas de Luck and respected as Spain’s First Ombudsman, will make you feel exceptional.
