What to See in the Netherlands in 3 Days

Welcome to the Netherlands! Three days is a very tight time frame to explore this wonderful country, if you have only three days then you are in for a great treat. It is a brilliant place with unbelievable canals, stunning windmills and vibrant cities that it is rushing to see and do. Here in this article we will take you through a three day itinerary with possible visitations to the must see attractions that you can visit. Let’s get started!

Day 1: Amsterdam

Start your journey in the wonderful capital city Amsterdam. With its history of arts, its elaborate working interior, its narrow houses with gabled facades, Amsterdam has it all.

Rijksmuseum

Rijksmuseum is a must see place for art and history buff in Amsterdam. It is best to start your day here. The masterpieces in this world famous museum include works by Rembrandt and Vermeer. “The Night Watch” is a must to see, so be sure to admire it!

Canal Cruise

The second activity includes hopping on a canal cruise to see where the waterways of Amsterdam are iconic. It is an amazing way to experience the city from a new angle and to marvel the city’s special architecture. Guided tours are the options or you can rent a private boat.

Anne Frank House

A visit to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is no trip to the city. See the secret annex, so often hidden from view at the top of the building, where the Frank family and four other people spent the last two years of World War II. It is a remarkably moving, a profoundly moving thing.

Day 2: The Hague and Delft

So on your second day, use your time to explore two other Dutch cities which have something interesting to add to your picture of the Netherlands: The Hague and Delft.

Mauritshuis

Head down to the Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague to kick start your day which is famous for it’s collection of Dutch and Flemish masterpieces. Marvel at Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring” and other Golden Age paintings.

Peace Palace

At the center of the city is Peace Palace – a symbol of international peace and justice. Include a guided tour to learn the story of the building and its grandeur. Also remember that the palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens which are worth seeing.

City of Delft

After lunch, find your way to the quaint city of Delft. As a treasure trove, this city is known for its blue and white ceramics. Visit the Royal Delft factory for guided tour of the pottery to see how the craftsmen make these golden image porcelain bits.

Day 3: Rotterdam and Kinderdijk

Discreetly eased out the final day for you to roam about in modern architecture and dutch windmills.

Rotterdam

Begin in Rotterdam, city of innovational architectural designs. Bike around, from the Cube Houses to Erasmus Bridge. Don’t get lost in the Markthal indoor food market where you can sample local delicacies.

Kinderdijk

End your trip at Kinderdijk which has been named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. So here you will find a mesmerizing 19 traditional windmills. To be sure, the unique landscape is best seen on a boat ride, or on a leisurely walk. That is an excellent opportunity to learn how Dutch water management!

On this three day itinerary, you can experience the Netherlands’ heritage, culture and landscapes. Try some of the traditional Dutch smells along the way, stroopwafels and haring. Have fun in the Netherlands and take amazing memories.
