Introduction

Budapest – the capital city of Hungary, a city split by the river Danube is undoubtedly one of the most attractive cities in Europe. In one part, there is Buda which encompasses history, and beautiful sceneries, while in the other part, Pest has the feeling of the concrete jungle and good night life and other numerous attractions. Therefore, the question to be addressed is: which part of Budapest is more suitable? Well let’s see each parties’ interest and know more about them!

Buda

Buda is located on the right side of the Danube River; the Buda Hills, some Gothic houses, and a calm environment characterized this site. The following are some of the main attractions of Buda:

1. Buda Castle

Buda Castle is one of Budapest’s main attractions, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has wonderful views of the city skyline and is also home to many museums and art galleries. One would not want to skip taking a tour of Castle Hill which is the neighborhood of the Buda Castle as the area has so much character and a histories to tell.

2. Fisherman’s Bastion

Pest

Pest is situated on the right bank of the Danube River and is considered the dynamic, contemporary side of Budapest. It’s young and lively with strip of busy streets, broad avenues and is famous for night life. These are some of the notable features of Pest:

1. Hungarian Parliament Building

The Hungarian Parliament building is among the most demanded objects for shooting, which is an elegant example of the Gothic-style architecture. Take a guided tour inside and marvel at the interior, that is, after taking a peek at the Hungarian Crown Jewels though.

2. St. Stephen’s Basilica

Some of the interesting things to do are visiting St Stephens Basilica; it is the largest church in Budapest with good architecture design, and one can be able to view Budapest from the top of the dome. There are also concerts that are performed on the organ during the day or night, one can also get up into the bell tower for a view.

3. Széchenyi Chain Bridge

Hungary’s Chain Bridge that links Buda and Pest is a famous attraction and is, undeniably, one of the city’s most famous landmarks. Cross the nearby bridge to have a look at the attractive construction and what is more to enjoy the view to both sides of Budapest.

Conclusion

And, orientalist or occidental, which side of Budapest is better? The answer all depends on your preference. However, if you are into less hype and history and have a thing for castles and scenic view, Buda is even more appealing. Conversely, if you are in for a more lively area filled with night clubs and historical sites, then Pest will be able to satisfy that. The beauty of Budapest is that it is geographically very convenient, so one can stroll on both sides of a bridge and get the feel of it. Regardless of the side you stand on, Budapest has lots of things to offer; from historical to modern buildings as well as the welcoming Hungarian people.
