Coffee & Conversations in Budapest
However, when it comes to the list of tourist attractions and sight see that Budapest has to offer majority of which are cafes. It got so widespread that café became part of culture, part of the history and part of tourist map.
It should be noted that according to an assessment made in 1912, there were only fifty cafés in Budapest that should include literati, writers, poets, and literary lovers from all over the world.
This culture was then popularized by writers that migrated to Paris in the 1920s, but as Paris get more costly, Budapest is back to asserting such territory. While sightseeing in Hungary I found it interesting to have at least one day designated to Café tour. Here are some of the Things I would like to suggest:
Café Gerbeaud
1051 Budapest, Vorosmarty ter 7-8
I will begin with Café the Gerbeuad which is among the largest shops of coffee houses in Europe thus something which can be seen. It now currently has a 164-year history The organization then developed and grew over the years to what it is today being a church with a total membership of about 15 million. In envisaging the interior design, one is therefore inevitably drawn to using a lot of marble, gold and wood. It remains to be in possession of the 20th century aura which is a generation of the young poets and writers. While breathing in this air, one can also quench his/her thirst with such beverages as high quality coffee, cakes and desserts.
Massolit Books & Café
1072, Budapest, Nagy Diofa utca 30.
If one is out for a lamplighter around the city and they feel tired, they can find a place to sit that has coffee and reading material. This is the perfect place.
It has a garden with park benches, only for reading which therefore makes it perfect in the spring season. It also looks after its coffee quality since most of them are made from directly traded beans, and accompanied with a choice of cookies, brownies, quiches, or cake.
Central Café
1053, Budapest, Károlyi utca 9.
Hungarian cuisine with a special emphasis on the ambiance dating back to early 1900 with classified Art Nouveau architecture is awaiting for you in our café. Originally established in 1887 but operational was greatly impacted in the second world War. It has since then been rebuilt in 1999, it has also managed, to keep some history. The paintings, all the chandeliers and wooden furniture have been overhauled to the best of their standards.
It is located in the central area of the city and it is indeed one of the few cafes that mainly serves Hungarian food.
